Suspects of 9/11 will Face Military Trial in Guantanamo

April 07 2011, 12 :30 pm GMT

Guantanamo, ( Venceremos) –- Five suspects of the 9/11 attacks will be judged by a military commission in the illegal prison in the Guantánamo base. The trial is another proof that President Obama, who recently announced his intention to go for a second office in 2012, has no intention of closing down the prison.

Secretary of Justice Eric Holder announced this embarrassing reverse of the decision by the administration in November 2009 of judging the alleged mastermind of the attacks, Khalid Sheikh Mohamed, and four of his co-conspirators in a civilian trial, the Reuters news agency reported.

On March 7, Obama ended a two-year ban on new military trials, tacitly recognizing that the prison he had promised to close by the end of his first year in office will continue to be open.
