Cuban Lisandra Guerra Wins Gold Medal in World Cycling Cup

Cuban Lisandra Guerra won the gold medal in the
women’s 500m Time Trial event of the third stage of the World Track
Cycling Cup that is taking place in Beijing, China.
Guerra clocked 34.657 seconds and was followed by Russian Anastasiya
Voynova (34.898) and Jijgjing Shi (35.012) of China’s Max Success
ProCycling team.
The first stage of the World Track Cycling Cup took place in Astana,
Kazakhstan, last November, while the second phase was held in Cali,
Colombia, in early December. The fourth and final stage is scheduled for
London (February 17-19).
The contest in China, which grants Olympic qualification points, features
racing in each Olympic discipline: omnium, team sprint, team pursuit,
sprint and keirin.
The track cycling Olympic qualification window closes on April 8, 2012.
